This stereotype that one of us is smarter than the other is ridiculous. I am an American living in England and as in my own country I've seen a mixture of both.
Cheerleading can be a good experience or be a negative.....JUST like EVERYTHING else.......
It is about school spirit and supporting your team.
My daughter was Captain of her squad and enjoyed cheering for 4 years....But she had the intelligence not to let the stereotypes of cheerleaders bother her or dictate who she was or who she became........she just had FUN ......and english girls would too.

We do but we're shite at it. Up in Yorkshire/Lancashire the big rugby league teams have pubescent girls prancing round to the latest dance tracks freezing their bits off to wolf whistles from blokes in the stands who shout obscenities at them, whilst their mothers sit ther looking really proud of their Jade or Tammy.
They should just keep to a pie, a cup of tea and a raffle at half time, none of this imported trash.

Cheerleading first started at Princeton University in the 1880s with the crowd chant, "Rah rah rah, tiger tiger tiger, sis sis sis, boom boom boom ahhhhhhh, Princeton Princeton Princeton!" as a way to encourage school spirit at football games.

I don't know, maybe it was the school boards decision and felt like that would represent there school the wrong way...England is classy...I learned that when I went there last summer
