Also would like to know if thunderbird email account goes with downloading firefox or is that a separate thing. I looked at the mozilla web site and I can't tell.

If you want an Email Client with your Mozilla browser then you'll have to download the Mozilla Browser Suite, not Firefox...Firefox is just a browser...and Thunderbird is ONLY a Mail Client...
And Yahoo has nothing to do with browsers, or the Mozilla foundation...

Yahoo is a website and Firefox is a browser. No Thunderbird does not come with Firefox, it's seperate.

Firefox is a much better browser all round, it's stable, it's reliable, it is written to understand the language of the internet, as opposed to Microsoft who just want to write a browser that understand Microsoft...
