What I mean Is I have the lyrics, the band, the willpower,
But don't know how to go about approaching record labels...
I will be in europe all summer, how could I take my material to labels there is it possible to phone them and ask to listen to it?
Cheers!!

(In no particular order...)
1) Make sure you really are good, and you have something people are interested in listening to
2) Work on your songs, and record a demo to send to record companies & radio stations (particularly local ones)
3) Play lots and lots of gigs - talent scouts can be anywhere, the wider your range of venues, the better chance you have of being 'discovered'
4) Get an audience - promotion through local newspapers & radio stations .... and any other method you can think of!!! Be inventive!!
5) Word-of-mouth - consider giving away cds at your gigs, so people have something to take away with them and show their friends. Making your songs available for download is also a good method.
6) Having a LOT of luck - often it's about being in the right place at the right time
If you use a combination of these things, you have as good a chance as anyone of making it :-D

Simon Cowell was asked this question on TV the other night and he said to get an audience. If you approach a record label and you already have an audience they will be more interested.
So get gigs anywhere you can, even small ones, produce and sell your own CD's, even broadcast on the Internet.

It takes a long time I know. A lot of interviews and pre-gigs before you'll get signed. And you're lucky if you do get signed! Just do your best and try you hardest is all I can tell you! If you watch Hogan knows best; it took Brooke a while to get in. You can kind of see what all you have to go to though if you watch a few episodes. But of course she did b/c she has a famous Daddy w/ lots of money to help her out. And she just wanted to be the next little pop star, Britney Spears.

Wow! I agree that its a hard game. At the same time always remember that people like different tunes. They want something new everyday. Their ears are hungry. Thats how everyday new music comes in the industry. There is ample of scope. Your music should be different from previous and should MESMERISE MASSES, then Success is yours.

dont bother what other people say about you..dont give up must upstart artists quit after the first year...remember sometimes it takes a while to make a profit
and when you do get that record deal make sure you read all the small print..you dont want to be stuck in a bad deal when your not making any money

Get out in the world to market yourself or your talent and don't waste you time doing this! It won't get you anywhere my dear. Or you could audition for American Idol or X Factor. If everything fails just put on a show for your neighbours in your garden and ask for donations
Bon chance!

Here's a couple of tips my dad he works with rappers and he gives them tips so I could give you some.First make a song or something and try to give it to a record label or something. If that doesn't work make copies of YOUR cd and try to sell it to people to make it popular. If that doesn't work try to go to the radio station to let your voice or whatever be heard.

Well i want to make it into the music business as well as an entertainer and my only tip is to put yourself out there and to sell your music and make it original and something from the heart and make trends don't follow them!!!! Good Luck!!!

get as much exposure as you can. Play gigs, make cds and pass them out. Be good! Market yourself well. Always enjoy what you do, very few groups make it BIG, but many musicians have modest careers and stay true to themselves. Good Luck.

Get plenty of exposure. Play in coffee shops or clubs... well, depending on what type of music. Try music that will appeal to all age groups.
