Some people say it is ok to tell white lies to protect others from getting hurt. What do you think?

nope. any lie is a sin against God. be it white, grey, purple or black. it always blows up in your face somewhere in life. i am firmly against telling lies. although i'm not perfect and have probably told one or five or...maybe even ten. lol. :)

I think telling the truth is always most important. The thing is when you lie the person you lied to almost always finds out at some point in time and that hurts way worse then hearing the truth to begin with.
Now-there are times when you can sugar coat it or when you can do it in a nicer less direct way. But to all out lie I do not agree with and always try to be honest.

Telling the truth may make someone upset, but it shows how much you care for them. It may take someone getting hurt now but don't it make more sense to get it out in the open so the problem can be solved now as to have it snowball and get even worse? Honesty is a wonderful policy. Remember to ask yourself would I want someone to lie to me, or tell me the truth so I don't find out from someone else. If you are lieing about something chances are that someone knows the truth and will tell the person that you are trying to hide you secret from any way!!!!!!

well, I believe honesty is the best policy.
even if you keep a secret to protect someone or don't what to hurt them, the truth always comes out in the end, they will just be more hurt when they find out some other way, so rather tell the truth, Plus it is a sin to tel lies.......

depending on what the circumstances are...But it is always better to tell the truth. Little white lies sometimes are OK..example..it you eat at your in laws and the food taste terrible..you must always say it delicious.

Yes, i think you should be always direct and talk about truth....you should never lie...but while deliverying the truth, you need to be more careful as it may hurt somebody's feeling...but i personally feel you should always be transperent and should be talking truth and nothing else....in long term because of this nature you will always have good lot of people who would be trusting you blindly from bottom of their heart....hope i have answered your question.

no cause then you have to cover it up with more lies and before you know it snowballs and they find out and that makes it worse cause then you lost their trust which will be hard to gain back
tell the truth no matter how bad it hurts. the hurt goes away and at least they know the truth

i think that white lies are real lies, in the long run the person will find out the truth i say pull of the bandaid i say it like it is.

yeah for me its okay to tell white lies tp protect yourself and others. that's ok. anyway i bet there is no person in this world who never lies.

i always try to tell the truth, but yes, sometimes it is better to tell a white lie.
