Well, if cared for properly, probably about 5- 10 years. Goldfish aer simple fish that dont need much care at all except for food. If u dont feed them for a long time, they still might live off of the algee in the tank!

If taken care of properly they can live up to 20+ years. The oldest living goldfish to live in a tank was I believe 43 when it died.

If you are talking about feeder fish (comets) they can live to be atleast 10 years old if cared for properly. They need be kept in atleast a 100 gallon tank, or preferably out in a pond.. they grow very fast, and get very big. You cannot keep them in a bowl. If you keep them in a small tank, it stunts their growth, and they usually only live a couple years at the most.

I read in a newspaper a few months ago, of one goldfish that lived to be 45 but the usual is about ten years max.

The oldest one recorded was 42. They should live from around 20-40 years. Most make it about 2 years. They are often kept overcrowded and in dirty tanks.

They have been known to live for 7-10 years. The longest I have ever had one live was 5 years.

They can live a long time in a tank, but it will probably stunt their growth, since they're pond fish and grow to be about a foot long.
