Actually at this time he should be sleeping through the night. He's not getting up because he is hungry; he's doing it because when he wakes up in the middle of the night (as we all do, but without knowing it put ourselves back to sleep) he doesn't know how to get back to sleep without the comfort of you and the bottle. I did the same thing with my son, I was still having one nursing a night when he was 9 months until I talked to my pediatrician and he say I definitely needed to stop.

You should be able to find your son table/baby food when your family using eats dinner. Then about 30 mins before bedtime feed him a bottle to tide him over. He really won't need anymore than that to make it through the night. If you feed/rock your child to sleep at night that will also interfere with him sleeping through the night. A routine will have to be established so he knows what to expect at night. Dinner, play, bath, bottle, books (or whatever works for you) and then put into his crib drowsy but awake.

When he wakes in the middle of the night give him about 5 minutes before you go in, even if he is crying he may put himself back to sleep if you give him a little time. If you do go in do not feed him, this isn't what he needs he is doing it for the comfort not the need to eat. I know it's hard not to comfort your child back to sleep; it was VERY difficult for me when I first stop nursing my son in the middle of the night to help him get back to sleep. It is just VERY important that they learn to put themselves back to sleep at night so that they will have good sleeping habits later on in life. If you speak with your pediatrician I am sure he/she will tell you the same thing.

The new problem you will have to deal with is helping him learn to soothe himself to sleep. I did/do not believe in the just let them cry it out method and used my own technique with both my kids that worked great. If you are interested feel free to email me.

Basically, your son should be able to sleep through the night without a feeding and you shouldn't have to add cereal to his bottle or an "extra" late night feeding so that he can make it through the night.

Good Luck!

guess that depends on the "feedings". i was already 7 months pregnant with my next by the time my oldest was 10 months old...so...i needed to get some sleep...i gave him cereal for his last feeding before bed...something a little more "stick to his ribs" than his other feedings of the day. But then there is so much new stuff out, old wives ways of doing things probably aren't very popular any more. (mother of 4...and the one im talking about is the one who "doesn't" have a weight problem in childhood or adulthood)

That's normal. If you can possibly manage it, just go with his needs. He will grow out of it, although you can't know just when... Generally speaking, babies are developmentally ready to sleep all night between 6 and 12 months old. But a lot depends on the individual baby.

Another thing to consider is that at this age, me may be busy and forget to nurse. He makes up for it at night (when your milk production is also higher). If you nurse him two extra times during the day, he may need one less feeding at night. (But there are no guarantees!!)

All 3 of my children slept all night through by the time they were 3 months old. My first, slept all night by the time he was 9 days, he was bottle fed. My second, slept all night by the time he was like 8 weeks, breastfed. My third, slept all night by the time she was like 3 months, breastfed. The reason they were all so different is cause my first son, like I said, was a bottle baby, I put a little bit of rice cereal in the bottle only before bed and his little belly was full and he slept all night long. My other 2 happened after I introduced them to the bottle, I couldn't put rice cereal in my breast! lol...... The dr.s say don't do it cause it can lead to your baby being overweight but you know your baby, they eat cause they're hungry. Put a little rice cereal in that bottle and that baby will be full and not want to eat again till in the morning. It won't hurt him.

They got here up with this midnight components that's mentioned to aid them keep complete via the night time. You might take a look at blending that during to the milk feedings earlier than bedtime. Or you'll simply thicken it up your self by way of putting in place plenty of rice or grains that you'll combine into the milk as good. It turns out like he eats plenty however probably that midnight components will aid.

Make sure he gets regular feedings through the day. Have you tried increasing his portions? That might work. But he may be just a hungry little fellow and might need more smaller feedings rather than fewer big feedings.

He shouldn't be having to feed at night at all. Are you feeding him solids? At that age he can almost eat anything you eat if not spicy and cut into small pieces. If he is not eating solids yet, he is not satisfied so he wakes up hungry.

Please give more details.

10 months should not require two feeds. Try to feed him closer to his bed time.
