Duodenal ulcer is the most likely cause. There are other possible causes that can be far more serious, so your friend would need to be seen by a physician as soon as possible, instead of waiting around for answers over the Internet...

a friend had stomach cancer and another one had a bad liver,both would vomit blood.Tell your friend to go to the doctor !!
