I just started my web page Friday and over the weekend I received 2 friend requests from strangers. Is that normal? Should I accept because that would be the polite thing to do, or should I decline because they might have alterior motives? I guess I'm pretty naive about this sort of thing, so any advise you have would be appreciated.

Look at THEIR web spaces and see if they have massive amounts of friends. If they do, they are just adding you to say they have more friends. I usually deny these. But, it's up to you.

I usually won't accept friend requests unless I actually know the person. Don't feel bad about rejecting someone, because alot of people will add you just to up their friend count. I get, on average, around 5+ requests a day from people I've never met or heard of. Just delete them and get used to it.

Yeah, it's pretty normal. I wouldn't confirm them, though. There are a lot of wackos on myspace. I get friend requests all the time. Bottom line, if you don't know them, don't approve their request.

It is normal. It happens to me all the time.

It depends on you. Do you want to be "friends" with strangers? There is no such thing as politeness in this situation. It is all about what you want to do.

don't accept them!! you don't know who they are!! just let them sit in you myspace inbox rather than just deleting/denying them.
