I am moving there July 25, and hoping to jump start my search for housing. Where are the best deals? I only want to pay from $500-$750. Any advice pertaining to the area would be most welcome!

Not to be confused with Charlotte, NC. Shallotte is near Ocean Isle Beach and Wilimington.

There are many new communities going up around the Shallotte area, though I'm not sure about current rental rates in that area.
Try going here:

and searching Brunswick County to see what might be available in or near Shallotte.

Indeed, there has been a tremendous amount of growth down there over the past twenty years or so and housing has really been on the rise. I am not sure of any good deals but I do know someone who grew up in the area and may be able to help you with that if you might be interested, just let me know. You may also want to visit some of the realtors' websites, such as Martha Lee Realty or Coastal Development & Realty to see what properties they have available.

Shallotte. Looking for an apt?? Hard to find over there, try rent.com. apartments.com, move.com. Try looking surrounding areas as well.

Do you mean Charlotte? A shallot is a type of onion.
