I think it's because there's too much "American Pride".
People are just excited by the big names and superstars of american football, basketball, baseball and hockey that they don't really care about the REAL passion of the game.
Haven't you guys realized that soccer is not a boring game at all?
Besides, can anyone name an american sport where no timeout is allowed beside FOOTBALL (soccer)?
I personally think that the North americans are lazy to sit down and watch for 90mns straight without commercial (except at half-time). that's why they care more about sports where it's like commercials every 5mns.

Soccer is a socialist utopian sport. Any game that can end in a 0-0 tie is anathema to Americans. We prefer actual scoring in our games. Hockey also not very popular here, and where it is, it's only for the fights.

we need a lot of action and a lot of scoring. That's why the NFLand NBA are the most watched sports. I don't think soccer will ever catch on and be as big as those two leagues.

because baseball and football and basketball came to this country 1st. though i find baseball quite boring. they say that if it came to the U.S. now and tried to start now, it wouldn't have a chance because there isn't enough action. also soccer is not a high-scoring game, although i don't see why that matters to some people.
