Borax laundry soap works really well and is cheap. Purchase one of the squeeze bottles that is made for ketchup at a dollar store and fill it with the Borax, dispense the borax along base boards, under kitchen cabinets and vanities any where you see the ants, leave the borax down until you no longer see the ants and vacuum up the excess borax, I've been using this process for years and it works as the ants carry the Borax back to the nest and it kills all the ants.

try a product called Terro. I get it at Lowe's (home improvement store)

they eat it and take it back to the nest where they presumably all share it and die.

I consider it like "feeding" the ants, because they absolutely love this stuff. They would rather get this Terro than anything else in my kitchen, even sugar. They swarm to the Terro (which is a clear syrupy stuff that you put on a little piece of card board) and go back to where they came from. Keep an eye on the supply, because they'll clean it up in no time. In a few days, the little buggers just stop coming back.

I put my cardboard pieces under a brick to keep the cats away from it. I can keep an eye on the cards through the little holes in the brick.

As for windex, I've had no luck with that working on the ants.

Good luck!

Use Terro for the immediate problem. You can mix the liquid with a little mountain dew or pepsi and set it out for the ants.

For long term - Get a box of Borax in the laundry detergent aisle at the grocery store - Sprinkle this along the perimeter of your house by the rooms you have seen ants. They will walk through it and carry it back to the colony. (Go liberal Borax is cheap.)

Use RAID ant & roach spray, the unscented kind for INDOORS... for OUTDOORS use HomeDefense Spray by ORTHO and spray outside around your entire house and windows if possible to establish a "perimeter" barrier. Both work fantastically well!

Try to respray every 2 weeks during summer months and none during winter, unless you have bad bug problems year round.

This is how I take care of my ANT/BUG problems out here in blistering hot Las Vegas where the average summer temps reach well over 100 degrees... so lots of pesky insects trying to make their way indoors to cool off!

Whatever you do, do not put ant motels/bait INDOORS... that will only encourage them to keep coming in! (I made this mistake a few years back, and was told by a pest control agent to "STOP FEEDING THE DARN BUGGERS!!!" hahaha)

I haven't tried this yet, but I hear that a good way for getting rid of ants is to leave them a snack of sugar mixed with baking soda. They take this to the queen, and what ever insects consume the baking soda, their insides will explode.

There is a product that you can buy at any hardware store
called Terro. This should help with the ant problem.
Also, don't leave anything sweet on your countertops in your
kitchen.

Cayenne pepper works wonderfully. It burns them and keeps them away. Fill the cracks where they enter your rooms with it. It has no smell and it will not harm your pets, they can smell it but will stay away from it because they won't like the smell. You won't smell it at all. Plug up holes etc with it and the ants will stay away.
