I hear the RNS (Royal North Shore) is excellent, as is St Vincent's and Nepean Hospital. I have been to Nepean several times (I'm accident-prone :P ) and have never had a problem with them although my mum contracted a golden staph infection from staying there.
(These hospitals are all in and around Sydney)

Depends on what you mean. I work for Greenslopes Private Hospital in Brisbane and it's won several awards. I did work for a Government Hospital prior - just horrible!
