Good consequence - a drastic reduction in the War on Drugs and the victims of that war. We could reduce our prison and jail populations and ease up court dockets without marijuana convictions.

The drug hustlers would have to find a new evil to peddle, and the DEA could concentrate on the real harmful stuff - meth, crack, herion, etc.

Hemp could be re-introduced as a textile material.

People with glaucoma and people undergoing cancer treatment would be able to reduce their suffering.

And, no, our streets would not be filled with junkies. It is so freely available nowadays, anyway, and the streets are not filled with junkies. Alcohol is also widely available, and our streets are not filled with drunk kids, so why would that happen with pot? Not a logical conclusion.

Billions of dollars are spent fighting marajuana every year. That money if shifted towards education would do far more in the war on drugs than the police can do. Not only would the demand go down but it would enable our children to keep the technological edge. A prosporous future for our country would be secured. Its the only way for the USA to remain the economic powerhouse it is. No child left behind could be a possibility afterall.....................by the way I'm a former law enforcement officer. I've smoked weed plenty of times before but never liked it. I havent smoked in over 15 years. Now im a nurse and have had doctors reccomend to my wife to smoke pot when she was pregnant it doesnt cross the placenta. Also cancer patients people with AIDS ans MS can benefit greatly from the effects of pot. So people here with other opinions can put that in there pipe and smoke it.

The consequences, a major one, is that the legal profession & politicians would have to admit they were wrong! Umm I've heard they did this once but it was sooo long ago... Also it would put a bunch of 'corrections officers,' if that ain't a misnomer, on unemployment lines!

Well,

for 1, people would go after it and we'd have a bunch of drugees running the country. that would be a problem.

Also, the bad people would be able to influence the good people more easily to be bad, and it might work.

I don't know that there are any good things that come from legalizing marijuanna

everyone would live at the quicke mart,
mass spread of schizophrenia due to mass production of cannabis hydroponically with extensive uses of chemicals that make the chemicals in the brain unbalanced.
lot of people less stressed
but also a lot of people picking up the habit, and the professionals call it a gate way drug so harder more dangerous substances into the community.
so if you would like the experience of living in a society where cannabis smoking is legal go for a holiday to Amsterdam and experience for your self.

Those that already smoke it illegally, would smoke it even more if it were legal, and they could smoke get high, get in their vehicle and cause wrecks and many accidents, let alone kill their braincells and pretty much reek of the smell that marijuana has and not have a care in the world. Because who would stop them from smoking it, if it became legal.

The most negative effect would be......stupid kids who don't know how to be responsible users. Other than that, it would become cheaper and a lot easier to get.

Streak is a ******* moron... pot isn't addictive. It has basically no health effects, especially when compared to tobacco. the disadvantages to it... a massive, nationwide twinkie shortage.

It's legalizing a third drug, we already have alcohol and nicotine as legal drugs, lets stop there, otherwise it opens a can of worms.
