Why can't they be paid like the rest of do? I mean, sure they are good at sports but everyone is good at something. Shouldn't we all get paid millions because we do what we are good at? I would love to get a million dollars for helping people get their ged and improving their life but I know that I won't get it.
Enough ranting.

But it's a vicious circle. Althletes act that way because that is what the fans expect and since the fans expect this kind of behavior, that's what they get.
Boycotts won't work, as there will be a group of fans that like the petulance, the seething resentment and the churlish behavior. Barry Bonds and his attitude come to mind.
And it's not a new thing. Tales of Mickey Mantle being rude and insufferable have cropped up for years and Ty Cobb was a genuine monster, on and off the field.

I would boycott them, but I never went to any games to start with, so they would never notice (grin).
The salaries are outrageous, but as others have mentioned, as long as we keep buying the tickets, those salaries will increase.
Tell you the thing that starches my drawers though. They can pay their players millions, but they can't pay for their own stinking stadiums. I am so tired of them doing that on my dime. Do you know any other business where the government builds the factory for them? Yeah, they get some tax breaks for locating at a place that is courting industry, but pay for building the stupid factory?
I know of one state (Maryland) where they built the roads, parking lot, AND stadium for the Ravens, then gave the owner all the revenue. Parking lot fees, concessions, everything. Crap! I felt like I should send the jerk the keys to my car while I was at it. He might need transportation.
Finished with rant.

not only sports... everything about america has to be fixed, starting with your dollar values against gold, your politicians, your president, your global knowledge, your "In God we trust" motto, your crime rates, your education, your human rights values, and most importantly, your face values among other international policies.
