Adult Hamsters are highly territorial and will fight to defend their home. They should be separated regardless of which sexes they are before they harm each other.
Females have a rounded rear end and males have a protruding bell shaped rear. Even if you wish to mate them they should only be put together for short, supervised, periods. If the female shows any signs of aggression then separate them and try again the following day.
Hamsters breed at a phenomenal rate. All the pet hamsters in the UK are believed to have originated from one breeding pair.

First off..what kind of hamsters are they? Syrian or Dwarf? Syrian hamsters CANNOT live together, they are solitary animals...and will fight to the death (usually). If only one has the lumps (testicles) then that would mean they are a female and male...and need to be seperated now. If you cannot even sex them..then you do not want babies..you will end up with lots of hamsters soon.

Can't help with determining their sex, but if you are not sure, you'd better keep them seperated. Hampsters can have bunches of babies like every 20 days.

That's not his butt, those are his balls, if you've got one hamster with balls and another without, you better start looking for loving homes for baby hamsters!
