From a morally corrupt persons perspective: One person isn't enough, and that other person is someone who will give you what you can't get from the other. It also can be a challenge, in the pervs mind.
The fact is that many people either made a mistake with who they choose to be with, or don't realize how lucky they are, or are completely perverted. When its all of those this person is DISGUSTING and beyond hope.

The point is bigamy is illegal.
So, if you want two mates and you are married to one, the other one becomes your mistress or kept man. There was a time when it was a sign of wealth to have a mistress or two. Only the rich could afford mistresses. This is not the same thing as an affair. This is one person with two households, not some person just sleeping around. The point as you put it is to maintain those households to everyone's enjoyment. you can go as far back as you would like the idea of multiple wives, or wives and concumines, or wives and mistresses have been apart of socirty all the way back to Abraham and beyond. Handmaidens were often mistresses. Geishas were often mistresses. History is filled with mistresses. Martin Van Burren was believed to be the son of a former President's mistress. No telling who came up with the idea, probably somebody who swanted two wives after it was determined tat only kings could have multiple wives. It's no wonder many mormans adopted the idea of mistresses to explain their polygamy. You can't penalize a man if his wife doesn't care that he is sleeping with another women and same goes for women as well. Gigolos exist. Although, I don't think they give the same attachment to their mates as do mistresses. They can't get pregnant now can they. They give women a no string attached romance on a regular basis. If none of this helps you then perhaps you are hung up on right and wrong, which is subjective. If everybody knows what is going on then it does no harm. If somebody is kept in the dark they may be offended. It's a matter of honesty and trust. But, quite often these relationships are understood, not acknowledged, but; understood. So, they go on until one or more party wants to change the arrangement, then they become a problem. The trust is broken and the rest is academic. Nasty divorce.

You can have more. It is epiicurian and hedonist. It is to have more pleasure. What is there not to understand. Of course you understand. You just think it is wrong. Nobody invented it. But you can look up the concept of "polygamy" if you want. I am not saying I think it is a good or bad thing. I am just telling you that it is a very obvious point.

some people like variety after going thru the same boring routine day in, day out. there's absolutely nothing wrong w/ wanting excitement in ur life. however, those are the exact types of people who shouldn't get married.

Well.....apparently a person isn't happy with who they are with so they run around. Maybe it's easier than getting divorced.
