A safer and more effective way to lower cholesterol is to take RED YEAST RICE (1200mg a day) and CoQ10 ( at least 100mg. a day in a highly absorbable form), this works FAST and really brings up the HDL while lowering the LDL, any doctor who is honest will tell you that lipitor and all the other persription drugs do more harm than good. Our doctor said it was ok to go the natural route and it has worked wonders. Least expensive route is mail order vitamin outlets. Here's to your health!!!

Lipitor is usually used toreduce fatty plaque in the bloodstream.
If the doctor has prescribed this, it usually means that you may have a high cholesterol level in your bloodstream.
This can culminate in plaque building in arteries, which can cause heart attack, and stroke.
Even though you may be able to reduce the cholesterol limit in your system, keep in mind, that plaque that may already be in your arteries can not be reduced without a dangerous procedure.
lipitor can reduce the amount of bad cholesterol your body takes in and combined with a healthy diet, and exercise, your body
may never have bad cholesterol again, and you should live a lot longer. My answer to you is this.!!
always check with your MD. because what suits some doesn't suit all, but I have not heard of any bad side affects from taking Lipitor at the dosage that your MD. prescribes.

I had my first heart attack in April of /06.Lipitor was one of the meds I was to use. After a short period of use,I had a reaction, body was itchy, and hives broke out,I went to the local hospital and the Brain idiot suggested I stop all meds till I can get a test to see what was causing the problem..daaaaaa I stopped Lipitor on my own and continued taken rest of meds.Lipitor attacks the body in different ways but what would have happened to me was my system would soon shut down,it attacks the liver, bladder, heart and lungs, after hearing this I was not too concerned about the brain,I don't have to much left to loose....lol

My Mom and brother in law are both on Lipitor, so I investigated this. The only real thing they watch for while a person takes this drug is liver damage. Users of the drug have to go into the doctor like every 6 months and have blood drawn so the doctor can monitor their liver. Neither my Mom nor my Brother in Law have expirienced either and they have both been on it for years.
Hope this helps!
