I guess I'm the odd one out here...I take up nearly all the closet space, and have even subletted the guestroom closet for expansion. My wife only has about 1/4 the room I take up.

The problem is my work...I've changed jobs 3 times since retiring from the Navy in 2004. Each job had a different clothes requirement and I haven't decided what to do with the clothes following each change.

I have about 10 suits that I rarely wear now, as well as a dozen long-sleeved and 6 short-sleeved dress shirts. About that many polo shirts and casual slacks as well. Also every Embassy I visit, I have to buy a polo with their logo on it! So I guess, in my case, I'm the "clothes whore"!

Women are generally going to require about 60-70 percent of the clothing storage space. If your mate requires more than that, then she probably needs to get rid of a few things or you will just have to build yourself another closet and/or buy another dresser. If you allow her to take 90% or more of the space, then I would consider that you are enabling her to hoarde clothing unless you happen to have VERY limited space to begin with. talk to her and tell her that you need more space. I've had to do that a couple times before. It has usually worked out. maybe she can model a few things for you that are borderline on fit or style. then you can be involved in sort of a fun way in helping her to reduce clothing volume. just some ideas from having dealt with this issue.

Women generally need more room to park their belongins. I suggest you ask her to figure out where how to fit in your stuff. Be gentle and nice. Tell her in a sutble way as if a query. I am sure she'll realise and make more room to keep your stuff.

But remember never crib or cry of how much space your wife is taking over..BAD BAD IDEA.

;-) All the best!!!

I guess every family needs to tackle in it's own way as there are diff scenarios as to why the lady needs more space...may be the cupboard is smalll...or she has lots of stuff ...or u moved to a smaller place than earlier etc...so u guys need to sit and sort it out....
In general a lady's clothes and accessories are more than a guys...so she wud surely need more space and we men need to understand that...

She is taking some space on your bed, don't you mind that? She is a person she must need some space to accommodate herself. Don't go selfish, feel her presence around you. It is great being together and share things.

husband gets one drawer at home, and the garage. the rest, you have to apply, request for space to your wife, and wait for the next available space.. when new cabinets, drawer or new closet is installed.

what can i say?
he doesnt have lots of clothing and accessories
while i have a HUGE range

but he takes most of our garage space with all his car junks and most of our cupboard with his electronic things =)

edit: yes, i think that's fair
she gets this, and you get that =)
