Overplayed? Sure.
Not even close to representative as a Zeppelin song? Yes. Kashmir is more classic Zep sound.

for it's time is was a unique and evocative song. i would not call it 'overrated'. because it has so much airplay over the years, and that numerous 'power ballads' have been inspired by it, you may have gotten complaisant about it.
it's just like Nirvana's song 'Teen Spirit", it was unique and interesting, and inspired a whole new type of music that was copycatted, now it's boring and people think of it as overrated.
i personally missed the boat on 'grunge' but for others,it reached something in them.
so no, it is not a overrated song. i helped develop rock music into something bigger,more complex than it was. it was part of rock's 'evolution' .

I have heard (in the 1990's) that if you played the song back to back for every time it had been played on the radio, it would play for 40 years. My favirite L.Z. song is Over the Hills and Far Away.

it's NOT over rated. I WISH that they would play the song alot more. My family had that song played at my late brothers funeral so it has special meaning to me
