Everything is going to be wireless soon. UWB will rule the world!
I think having a wireless keyboard or mouse is needed only if you are sitting in your armchair and have a rather big monitor , otherwise just a gimmick!

I brought a new desk top set up about 2 months ago. The keyboard and mouse are both cordless. They are made by Logitech. The keyboard has ordinary batterys in it, and the mouse has rechargeable ones. There is a dock/holster for the mouse. I put the mouse in it every night. My computer is often being used for up to 18 hours a day.
I have yet to see anything on my screen telling me that the batterys are failing.
Don't be lazy! Charge your mouse every day. No problem!

For a computer? Usually you don't have to charge them, they run off batteries. I ahve a wireless keyboard and mouse for 2 1/2 years and I just changed the batteries for the first time about 3 months ago.

Depends what you are gonna use it for. Most of the time, when using a keyboard your typing osmething, so you need to be near your computer to be able to read the writing. Also, its worth considering that you'll probably still want to use a desk for it anyway, as a keyboard is too long to rest on your lap, and even if you do, it is at a bad angle and can cause injury if your typing for a while

Cordless Keyboards are very handy, and some are powered by batteries, no need for charging. Been using mine for about 6 months and still no need to recharge/change batteries yet.

THE simple answer here is simple too !!, if you are a heavy user of computers and Internet then you will find yourself bored of charging and have alerts signs in the best moments of the chatting or designing, or playing or whatever you use to do, if you are a light to normal user then is OK cause you can get into the routine of charge with any problem.

If you really don't need it, keep on using your mouse and keyboard traditionally, why to complicate yourself unnecessarily?

Personally, I hate them. Mine ended up in the bin because of all the nonsense I got from them with the batteries and the signals. I'm now back with wired mouse and keyboard and my stress levels have dropped dramatically.

Charging time depends on the make. I don't rate them at all. Stick with cabled PS/2 or USB.

They are ok for normal use, the batteries last quite a while, But if you are a serious gamer the lag can cause you problems in games, its only slight but enough to reduce your reflexes
