Well, I feel like it breeds motivation and focus. And hey, it keeps the body in shape as well, and gives people a group to be a part of, and a sense of worth. Lots of reasons.

It's important for children to get involved in sports for the physical exercise, as well as for the competition itself. It's important for children to know the victory of a win, especially with a team, (sharing the glory).. it promotes teamwork, which will one day be a much- needed/used trait in the workforce. It also teaches them at a young age that sometimes you lose. Pick yourself up, brush yourself off, try, try again! We have far too many kids that are "couch potatoes" and over weight, under exercised. I can't stress enough how important the physical exercise is for young kids. If they run, play, compete it releives tention that might otherwise be taken out in a violent way. This is just healthy, and fun! Let them be kids, though... they don't need "dictators" as coaches.. they need friends that can be seen as role models.. not ALL adults/parents are cut out to be coaches! Kids need to play and have fun. This can be a positive means to teach children about teamwork and the importance of it, as well as being a tool in self-worth!
I hope this helps, God Bless you!

I think its kinda important for children to get a habit of doing sport at a young age, cuz when you grow up you'll start to forget about your daily excercise, and juz work like a workaholic. So its betta if you get into the habit now~

Also, statistics show that they active kids are less likely to get involved into drugs.
Sports participation, also, encourages family togetherness.

teaches them about teamwork
gives them self confidence
because as teenagers, the more they are involved, the less likely they are to be in trouble, so starting them early gets them interested
