that's probably the most asked question in the planet and one that matters the least...
we don't really need to know, do we?
anyway this is my theory:

God is Existence. Existence is God.

not making sense? have you read sophie's world? there were two potions: one which made every individual object distinct with an individuality of its own. one made the whole world seem as one... like one complete indivisable harmonised unit.

god, too me... is the latter.

like suppose you're looking out the window. you don't know why you wanted to look out the window just at that moment but you did.
and you saw a star behind a tree go in and out of the shadows as the branch in front of it trembled in the wind.
right. that is god. not the star or the tree or the wind. but all of it together. like a huge coincidence because it's really a miracle that all of it had to happen at the same time. and you were there to see it. it wasn't predestined maybe. it wasn't fated. it wasn't even a big thing.

but you got to see it. chance and a pattern. in a world where things happen soooo randomly and there are so many things happening all at the same time, you are at an exact moment witnessing an exact part of existence.

maybe it doesn't sound to great reading it from your computer screen. but if you think about it.... isn't it an amazing thing that you are sitting where you are and doing what you're doing... isn't it an amazing thing that you are alive...?
existence. THAT is existence.
and the word god is big. if anything is big enough to be worthy of its meaning that's existence.
because... a person or an identity or even a force... all that doesn't really seem big enough, does it?
now, existence...that is a big thing. it's huge... it's sooo huge, we cant even imagine it altough we're living it.

that's my god.

and people usually need a god to believe in. because we all need something to hold on to. it doesn't really matter whether you think he's a real man or even a holy person (what do you mean by that?) but as long as we have somone or even something (like existence) to hang on to, you're safe. or at least you think you're safe, which is kinda enough, really.

after all... god is only a word. and we all know words don't really mean anything.
