Yes it would matter, if your D:/ is another Partition of your Hardrive, it will probably contain Recovery files, incase the system crashed on the C:/. Besty thing to do is sdave all of the stuff you don't "need" onto CD (if you don't want to delete it) Buy some more RAM, (available from all good Computer Hardware stores) Anything between 125Mb and 1Gb is suitable, but try not to go any lower as it won't really make much difference. You can also run the Disk Clean up wizard, (Start --> All Programs --> Accesories --> System Tools --> Disk Clean up) and the Defragmentation tool, these will remove any unnecesary temporary files (mostly cookies from webpages) and sort all of your System files out, so they can be accessed by the motherboard quicker and easier.
ONe more thing you can do is download a piece of software called C-Cleaner. Which will clean and sort all registry and system 32 files. you can find it here:.

Hope that helped!!

C drive is your hard disk where your Operating System is stored. Some partitioned a C drive to have a D drive. Partitioning is like creating a different hard disk in one. It is like dividing your hard disk in 2. You may transfer the files such as picture files, excel worksheets, word documents into the d drive. The operating system must be in the C drive, other programs required to be in the C drive too. If your computer is slow, you might want to defrag the hard disk.Adding additional RAM to your computer will make it run faster. You can find the amount of RAM you have by right clicking on My Computer icon on your Desktop and choosing Properties. Then General tab should say ___MB of RAM. If you have 128, consider upgrading to 256, 512, 1 Gig.
You can defrag the hard disk by clicking on Start>Control Panel> Performance and Maintenance>Rearrange items to make programs run faster.

C and D are two different hard drives If your computer is slow it needs Defraged and unused files deleted.. You may also have a Trojan hiding in there slowing things down...If worst comes to worst you may have to reformat drive C and start over... It is OK to move some of the files to :D to make more room.

Listen...! C drive is basically a logical drive in which we are installing Operating System. and all other drives are fir the data storage purpose. Now if we want to swap the files from C drive tro D drive then you should leave the files of operating system which are stored in the windows folder (and documents and settings ... if u r using xp, 2000 or later version), program files folder. rest of the folder in the c drive u can swap it to d drive.

yes i guess ur OS is installed in C drive.. u shoud partition ur hard disk in such a way so as to have only OS and 5% memory space free on ur C drive and then all the data in ur D drive....
Yes it will help if u put as much data in D as u can.. but it will help only at the time of starting the PC...

C drive is the main hard drive, magnetic disc inside our machine, the D drive is for CD's, and is only in use when a disc is in your machine. So in short you can delete stuff of the C, but eleting from the D is taking stuff froma disc ( you can reassign the letters, but i doubt you have done that)
Also to speed up your comp, try disc defrag (start->all programs->accessories->defragmentate), run virius and ad aware (google it).
Have fun!!
