Gee this question is going to put me in my place, lol that & it's a reminder how old I am =(
Let's see back in my early years, there were no cell phones and/ or computers but we had television & there weren't shopping malls with the indoor cineplex-theme park concept then.
So most of the time we hung out with family, friends more. Rent a book/ movie, rarely stayed indoors, relied on imagination/ creativity to spend time...
Modern days, my 10 year old nephew has a cellphone, a laptop and his 6 year old sister drops the F-bomb & curses like a sailor! Kids are obese, lazier, stay indoors and are glued to TV, internet, PSP, etc.
They take life for granted because everything's easy with technology nowadays which is sad.

I think that this is what you mean... when I was young you could play outside and no one stole you from your front-yard. When I was young doctors made house-calls. When I was young schools still taught spelling, grammar and history... instead of state tests. When I was young the only way that you heard the F word was if you were in a bar and NEVER NEVER on TV. When I was young people helped their neighbors after a hurricane. When I was young you could walk to school safely and not worry. When I was young no one talked back to their elders. When I was young sex was reserved for the bedroom and NOT the television. When I was young there was no microwave ovens. When I was young we weren't at war. When I was young if you said, "Hello" to someone they always said it back. When I was young the pregnant teenagers went to visit their aunts and did not attend a high-school with a daycare in it. When I was young the only ones with PCs were the rich. When I was young divorce was not a quick fix. When i was young there were no Reality TV shows. When I was young people usually put others first. (The sad part is I'm not that old)
