Labor Day is a day to pay tribute to workers. It began as a tribute to "blue collar" workers, and was originally started by Unions. You aren't supposed to wear white after labor day because Labor Day is celebrated in September. White is not typically considered to be a Winter color.

Labor day is to celebrate all the people who work so hard day to day, it is to give them a break, I never got the wearing white deal, maybe someone thought it would clash with the snow in winter, its silly.

the interesting thing about Labor Day is that it was started as a day to make sure "blue collar" workers and ordinary people got a day off work.
Now those very people are the ones most likely to have to work on Labor Day and not get the day off!
