No I don't drive a hybrid and I'm not a hippie. But I don't drive a HUGE SUV.

But I do believe that the planet is getting warmer, either naturally or by emissions....

So I'm wondering if those who do drive big vehicles are concerned with what that vehicle is doing to the air, or to the economy of Arab nations. Or if they even think about such things....

Just curious. Honest answers appreciated....

I do not believe that there is a problem with the earth getting warmer. Records have only been kept accurately for about 100-150 years. Considering the age of the planet, this is not long enough to detect long term trends.

There are too many doom and gloom folks who try to say that man is destroying the planet.

ye i know what your thinking but today's SUV are so much better that the ones in the past these things must pass A very extensive smog control regulation set fort by the air quality management district ,and they don't put out the emission you might think they do , the new ones put out 1/8 the 80's year ones did, and the MFG are better at making efficient working big engines, there big, there expensive , and they are not as bad to the enviorment as say the guy driving his 1969 Chevy down the road and he is exempt from smog laws cause it considered a classic, he is putting a very large amount of un burned fuel vapors in the air when you breath the 2006 's you can breath behind them cause they are 98% cleaner burning motors you should be after the old vehicles that are exempt these are the ones killing us

Getting warmer? It's mid june and i'm still wearing a jacket, which is not normal for this time of year. What does an suv have to do with anything. they have the same emissions as any other vehicle. So I would say NO!

Oh, how nice. Lets just blame the SUV drivers for the damage done to our environment. So who told you that SUV's are the largest source of air pollution?
I dont think this question is correct. You cant just blame any one category of people for what has happened or is happening to our planet. The sources of the damages are various, we cant pinpoint and blame one. Besides, I used to have an SUV, and I am pretty sure I wasn't riding the most polluting vehincle on the road. Trust me on that.

Nothing against you, but this question is definitely wrong. You could ask, 'Do vehincle owners feel guilty for driving around in machines that are polluting the environment??' I'm pretty sure though that the answer is no. Most people are ignorant of the results of their actions.

SUV drivers don't care. I use to work at a gas station and those who drive an SUV are all the same. They are depressed, insecure with themselves and lack social skills. You will never hear them say hello or say anything positive. if they do speak it is usually to tell you how miserable there life is and how everyone is cheating them or to brag about something. The last thing on there mind is the environment and others, it is purely "me me me"

not all SUV owners are hurting the environment. there may be a lot of huge SUVs around the world, but in these days they prefer a diesel for a big SUV, so it's more efficient, and modern diesels didn't hurt the environment that much, and so does petrol, but petrol is less efficient. overall, if someone wants to buy a huge car, they will go for the diesel version if there's one... my dad owns one SUV, and it's a diesel, and it's a modern diesel, its emission is good and it's efficient...

good thought
- and don't forget about all of those leaf blowers - that burn gas, emit pollutants, and don't even do an effective job of gathering leaves, or reducing the workload of the leaf-gatherer. Rakes were better, just a reasonably sized cars are better.

I don't drive one either - but I am more then slightly miffed about people that complain about the cost of petrol, but drive gas-guzzlers.
