Denominations up to $100 are circulated in the general public.

Large denominations up to $100,000 had been used by the Federal Reserve Banks. Electronic banking helped do away with them in 1969.

Yes, but there is no authorization to continue the printing of it. You can purchase them from coin dealers and use it as ordinary currency. Of course they will charge you more than $500 for it.
