Alcohol and some drugs are depressants. They alter the body chemistry. It appears that you're going a bit hard on them if you are having suicidal thoughts. Get yourself some help, talk to a counselor, a friend, anyone. We don't want to lose you.
As far as the "fun" part of drinking and getting high, I wish I had a dollar for every time I have heard someone say - "It seemed like a good idea at the time". You know from your personal experience, it's not a good idea. Think it through before trying that again. No amount of fun is worth your life.
