I think much of the comedy today is extremely crude. Mr. Bob Hope made us laugh for years as did Jack Benny, etc. The did not resort to the kind of language so many of todays comedians think is necessary. It is another example of how rude we are becoming in our actions and language. Not a good example of how Americans should present themselves to the world at large. Janet

in show-biz you have to come up with new things all the time, you can't do the same thing as the comedians before you and it's really hard to come up with something clever, so they resort to insults. and not only that, but the majority people like it because ... you know, you don't have to think about it too much.
anyway, i don't think americans should be judged by their comedians

It is almost impossible to do anything in entertainment now days that does not contain some sort of sexual or crude remarks. The old comedians like Bob Hope, Jack Benny, and Red Skelton were clean because their were censors who took care out everything risque. Also, the people back then would not stand for it. Today, we do not have censors and the people have been conditioned to largely accept sexual or crude remarks.

I agree with you! The entertainment industry has taken a sad turn. Just look at the movies and television. Less and less is left to the imagination. Everything is fast and hurry up. No one takes the time to think before the 'do or speak'. Most of the comedy revolves around a 'word' or bodily function. Once in a great while you will hear an amusing story or joke that does not need to be censored by the judges. (if there are any of those left)

It's good to see someone make a post like this 😊
I always thought that if it was ''offensive'', it wasn't funny.
I plan to stand-up in the near future and My type is not gonna ''offend'' people.
I just want people to feel good about themselves.
