i just replied to someone else with a similar answer.. read these lyrics. theyre by john lennon, its called imagine. its a great song, and he sings about how if there was no fighting, no religion, no heaven or hell, no greed, no hunger.. no a lot of things. then the world would be a better place :)
Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

People fight to maintain power. And because of that everyone is apart of the battle. The world will never have peace, because peace is a state of mind. Society has a mentality of getting to the top at any means necessary. You mix that with evil thinking and you have a corrupt mind. Almost everyone is in a battle of who deserves to be here. We have money and power at the top of the list. And we as people have this thing that there can only be one #1. when in actuality we all are #1 at something. We think that once someone has claim to be #1 then thats it. We have to destroy that #1 in order to be the next #1. Its not true. We all can be a #1. Peace is an inward thing. If you have it within yoursself then it doesn't matter what's going on around you. You are content with who you are and what your going to be.

We have not evolved enough to avoid control and possess compassion. Some want to control and cause hurt and others want to fight that control causing more hurt. If the world could avoid control and human beings were more compassionate the world would have peace. When you let go of control and become more compassionate there is no need for war and no desire to hurt. I don't see peace in my lifetime nor my son's...there is a lot of human growth needed in order to achieve that.
There is just so much power to be taken, and it would be wonderful if we could see past that and just be free without any persecutions or desires for power or control.

Because there is nobody really looking for it. If you want peace you will not look for anything. Once you start looking for it others do the same. There is competition, motivation to succeed and no peace.

People are afraid of that which they do not understand.
Also, people have this annoying habit of always thinking they're right and better than other people. Not one single person in this world is better than another person.
So instead of trying to understand the ways of another people, everyone just starts doing the easiest thing possible -- get rid of that which they do not understand.
It's stupid.

Blame it on the government(s) who hunger for power and oil. Not only that they are self righteous, ignoring the suffering of the nations and the voice of the people asking for peace, they are ignorance, blinded by pride.

Politically correct answer - because there's peace at the end of the war.
No-so-politically correct answer - 1) because these wars were promoted by weapon makers. 2) because george w. bush is still american president. 3) because america now has less tolerance as before.

human's greed, jealousy, and ignorance cause problems.
our stupidity to think that we understand everyhting, we master this life, all false illusion made to become one's reality... root of the problems...
peace, though, can be found in your inner heart too... that is the most important place to start to have peace. reduce your greed, jealousy/unsatisfactory and stop being ignorance... look at everything as it is, the real reality... you will find peace...
