Legally ... 1 litre of hard and 1 litre of soft. Illegally ... as much as you can carry. What some people tend to do ... buy from the departing airport, hide it in your hand lugguage. And buy again when you arrive in Singapore. That gives you a good 2 litres. Just remember, you din hear it from me.

Well, it depends on where you enter singapore from. If you're coming in via the causeway or 2nd link (i.e. by bus, on foot etc), the limit is 0. Yup, not allowed to.
If you're coming in via one of the ferry terminals and you have been to malaysia or indonesia, I believe you are only allowed to bring stuff in if you have been out of the country for mroe then 2 days.
Via the airport I believe there are no suc restrictions. If you fulfill the criteria, you can bring in a total of 1litre of hard liquor (whiskey, tequila, gin etc etc), 1 litre of wine (red, white etc) and 1 litre of beer. This is not swappable (i.e. you are not allowed 3 litres of liquor in lieu of no beer and wine).
Safest bet is to just get it from the duty free shops. They will scan your passport and inform you of your allowed quota.
P.S. If you do decide to bring in extra, bear in mind that the cost of the fine (per bottle) is easily a couple hundred dollars. Plus you'll have to pay the tax on the bottle or give it up.

Hi, overseas traveller can bring in 1l liquor, 1l wine and 1l beer. If you exit, it must be for more than 24hrs to be entitled to bring in your entitlement again.
If you travel to Malaysia or nearby Indonesian Batam or Bintan islands, you must be away for more than 48 hours to bring in full entitlement, just more than 24 hours, half of the entitlement.
Hope this helps.
