Wouldn't you rather get shot in the head or be at ground zero of a nuclear attack. Isn't a sudden violent death better than a slow peaceful one?

Philosophically speaking, you do not come in this world of your own will Hence you have no right to decide when you will die. To me, peaceful death is one where you sleep one night and do not get up next morning. Medical advances have made dying a difficult proposition these days. Ask anyone, irrespective of his age & health and he wants to live more. So he/she goes to all lengths to keep death at bay. Also, modern lifestyle has brought many unheard of diseases which also have made dying not only difficult but an expensive proposition. Of course, if death comes without waring (ground zero or any other accident), you can consider it better than dying after being bedridden in a hospital for years, your bill meter ticking.

Not if it's gonna gain curses from the person cleaning up blood and gore after I'm shot. In case of a nuclear attack... a nuclear attack? What, you want to kill your family and friends as well, now?

So, yeah, a peaceful death for me, please... not that I have a choice.

well, asuming your peaceful death wasn't painful, then tyou have more time to say good bye to your loved ones, and forfill your last wishes, but i am very against the cause of keeping people alive on machines at only a subcontious level. if it is really someones time to die, you should not waste energy on keeping them alive if they wouldn't even be concious enough to know they were alive. One problem of society is that the common mentality is that your spirit completely finishes after you die.

People prefer to die peacefully because you your last time alive isn't painful. I would rather die peacefully than to bleed to death etc. Pain is a no no!
