Dubbing Artist

The same voice-over artists are used for most of the television commercials. They change their voices, sometimes they do cartoon voices. They have been in it a long time.

Many of the voice-over artists are also actors that made the transition from actor to voice-over talent.

Typically, the same people are used, especially with those that also do character voices.

If you are interested, get a talent agent, someone that thinks you have talent as an actor, and can guide you into voiceovers.

You have to be in the union to do voiceovers. An agent can explain it to you.

If you are in high-school or college, ask you theater teacher for guidance on this.

Voice-over work is not an area where you "contact someone."

Good luck.

First you need to apply for every radio job you can and learn how to do commercial voiceovers. Be careful not to ignore the office politics as you climb your way up in a company. It is helpful to learn commercial production as well and familiarize yourself with audio editing programs like SawPro32 and Sound Forge. Be sure to vary your tone of voice appropriately for each session and keep a smile on your face as you record your voiceovers. Get to know Scott Systems as well as other voice tracking programs; very little of radio is done live these days because company owners would rather pay a DJ/Producer an hour of wages to prerecord the voice breaks for 8 hours worth of programming than pay a full 8 hours for someone to sit at the console the whole time. Record yourself often and choose the best examples of your voiceovers for display on your web site. Yes, build a website with samples and other examples of your experience. Always smile when you talk to people and be polite at all times. Never say no when you are asked to do something. Most of all, keep working and don't give up! Good luck and happy broadcasting.
