We all know some public schools are jokes...what can be done to encourage the general population to educate themselves outside of school until the system is reformed?

I think people need to be informed that the rest of the world is more modern than they believe. Some Americans even believe Canadians live in igloos and that Africans and people from the West Indies/Caribbean wear grass skirts and live in huts! People also need to read extensively so they can spell properly. Furthermore, the attitude that intelligence is bad desperately needs to be changed. I believe all extracurricular activities like sports, clubs and dances need to be removed and taken over by the local municipality, so that the main focus will be on schoolwork, not the football team or Homecoming.

I don't know about encouraging the general public if that public has no interest in the learning! cultural exchanges are the best thing i can do for ya! also encouraging college students to travel (for leisure or to do alternative break type of things) can do wonders!
