It just means that a dollar bill with that serial number was somehow destroyed and the star means that it is a reprint of the bill with the same serial number. They reprinted the bill to keep the sequence. It is not worth anything but a dollar though, I know because I had one myself. The only time a dollar bill is worth more is when there is a misprint, or mistake on it, which in your case the star is not a mistake.

Yes that is a star note they are very collectable and modern ones are somewhat rare.
A star note is made for emergency use, if a regular run of bills is damaged before they reach the public then these notes are used.
Lately the machines make money so well that fewer star notes are used.
Value starts at 3 times face value of the bill and value is based on the serial number.

im not sure but you might wanna compare that to another dollar bill and if it is for sure different that you would want to take that to a lawyer and see if they can make a claim against the government for misprints because you can make a lot of money for misprints. uhm make sure to check the lawyers merits and credibility first but yeah you should go for it pimp who knows i mean you can't lose much from a dollar can you?

You might want to check that out on line or at a coin shop. Sometimes their are misprints and there worth ALOT of money.
