Some of these answers are true / good. The Task Manager is Windows' interface for controlling all open programs and processes on your pc, and can be opened not only from CTRL-ALT-DEL but also right clicking on your Start bar in a blank area and choosing "Task Manager". The interface includes the Programs tab, a simple list of programs, the more advanced "processes" tab, where you can see each and every process open (handy when you close programs but they may not really be closing in the background or may be freezing up) and the performance tab, where you can see graphs of real time cpu performance to troubleshoot performance issues.

On a related note, you can see anything and everything about what starts up when Windows boots in the msconfig.exe program (From Start Run), change things that startup automatically. This can also be useful in troubleshooting.

Hope all that helps.

U can see the Task Manager window when u press Ctrl+Alt+Del (i mean press Ctrl, Alt and Del keys at the same time). Through task manager, u can identify the programs which are "Not responding" in the Applications menu and also how much % of total processing each task takes in the Processes menu. If an internet explorer window or any running program gets hanged, u can use Task Manager to get rid of it at that time.

Well.. I guess task manager is OK because it will close annoying programs that don't want to close for me, but what's the point of this question?
