The best way to keep a perfume in its original state is to keep it in the box it came with. It usually "expires" when kept near sunlight or heat, then it changes its original colour and can cause alergies.
Changing of its original scent can also be a sign of expireing, but first spray it into air to check for any change in the scent, not on your hand. Everyone has a different skin ph; which means that every perfume can smell differentlly depending on the person that's using it.

yes they expire. I have heard of keeping it in the fridge. Don't know if that helps or not. I would not keep for more that 6 months. Even if it is a pricey perfume. The less expensive perfumes seem to go 'bad' quicker. Possible from the contents being of lesser quality in mixes? And more alcohol?

perfumes do expire. If you keep them for more then a year you will be able to start smelling the alcohol in them. If you start to think your perfume is smelling funny, it probably is and it's time to throw it out and get new.

Yes there are. As a matter of fact, they are some of the most important things to look out for while purchasing cosmetics.

2 years for a sealed bottle, 8 months for an opened one, provided you keep it out of heat and sunlight anyway.

I don't think that there is. I never heard anything about it being harmful after a year.
