Well, you could open a blog-page on 360.yahoo.com and publish it there. Then invite all friends in your address book, tell them about it. If the story is engaging, they'll in turn tell their friends about it -the chain goes on. Before you know it, lots of people will be reading your short story and leaving behind comments!!!

Research the E-book markets. Find one that fits your book, and try to follow the guidelines they ask for. Also Network, Network , Network, this will help you avoid scams and pitfalls. Talk to others who have "been there".
