Go to sleep at the same time everyday. And wake up early.Don't deviate from the routine for any reason. For once the routine is upset it takes too many days to get back into the pattern.Even if you didn't get much sleep in the night don't wake up late in the morning.Don't sleep after 7 am.That further upsets the routine.Get some sleeping pills from your doctors for a couple of days till the routine is set.Don't take them after that.I couldn't sleep without pills after taking them for a week.Don't drink coffee, tea or alcohol before going to bed. However a glass of warm milk is supposed to help.

Have a hot bath before bed.
Turn off the TV and play a jazz or classical CD.
A massage is very relaxing.
Passionate love-making.
Curl up with a boring book. Works for me.
Hot chocolate with a shot of butterscotch.
Incorporate moderate exercise into your daily routine, but don't exercise within 4 hours of your bedtime.
Some people follow a bedtime routine. If you have a routine, it may help you to get your mind into the mood to sleep.
