It is very easy once you get the hang of it. You grip it with your middle and ring fingers. You want to "dig" your nails into the seams. When you release you push forward with your fingers.

Keep a few things in mind:

You should be able to snap off a fastball in the mid 60s. That's about how fast most of Tim's are.

The grip on either side, with thumb and side of your ring finger, is important. Be sure you're holding the ball snug against the palm.

Release without snapping your wrist. Your wrist should sort of be "lazy" but you should concentrate on trying to follow the ball straight towards your target with your curled fingertips.

It's not easy to find that very special grip that works for you and you alone, so it'll take some experimentation and maybe a LOT.

You can try to toss a ball straight up a few feet without letting it spin, just to get the idea of what you have to do to grip, release, and follow the back of the ball with those fingernails.

Throw straight at the center of the strike zone. The ball should sink enough for you to see it move that way.

You should focus on your target to throw strikes, not on seeing what the ball does. Let someone catching it tell you how much it's moving THERE, because that's what counts.

Tim throws some harder, around 70 or better. If you don't have the fastball mechanics tro throw that fast, you'll have to develop them first, before you'll do well with a knuckleball.
