Well if you think you're old enough to have sex then you might as well be protected. First off use a condom. Not only does it offer protection from getting pregnant it also offers something other birth control methods don't : protection against STD's. There are several types of bc pills that offer added bonuses such as lighter periods, less frequent periods, and even ones that help clear up your skin. I would go to a local Planned Parenthood. They offer great advice and they don't judge you. They would even be able to recommend the best bc method for you.

First of all if you are concerned about getting fat...you better use some birth control or else you'll be really fat when your pregnant! There are allot of choices out there , and not everything works for everyone. There are free clinics that you can go to that can give you information , let you see a doctor , and get you some birth control right for you without you telling them your name even...pls look into this...check the yellow pages on line for local listings!

You should compare what method is best for you.
Do you want STD/STI protection? Then you need a male or female condom. Nothing else will help.
Can you take a pill every day at about the same time every day? Do you need to be discreet?
If so, you may use the patch, nuva ring, depo provera.
If you do want the pill, you might want the mini-pill with less hormones.
Or maybe you don't want hormones in your body, so you'll need less effective methods such as a diaphram or IUD.

im not going to give a lecture on abstinence and such bcos im assuming whom ever is asking about this question know about it all.
I first started taking birthcontrol pills wen i was 16 along with condoms and such.
My sister-in-law has a birthcontrol rod inserted into her arm and she found a few problems with excess bleeding with that.
Apparently you can also get a shot that a doctor injects every few months also.
I still prefer the birth control pill.
I know what it does to me and im in control of it.

Well i cant say that there is anything that wont get you fat as you say cause every bc be it a pill, patch, or iud they all say you can gain weight but then again they say they can cause you to lose weight. So it really depends on the woman. I would suggest the pills though because everything else is better to take after you have at least one baby.

Ask your doctor on that. Every method of Birthcontrol is different for each individual. Some may gain weight and some may not.

Best Birth Control - key word CONTROL
birth control = self control = abstinence
Keep yourself clean for marriage
also - no sex - no sexually transmitted diseases
there are over 50 common sexually transmitted diseases today- any sexual contact can give you one or more - most have no symptoms so you can't tell if anyone has them o not & most cause lifetime damage
