Harvard and Yale don't let anybody graduate with a C average. ANY graduate school will not let anybody graduate with a C.

So how did that dumb*** get degrees? Do you think someone else wrote his term papers? The people in his classes said he was a total jerk***

What do you think?

They call it "Gentleman's C"- the grade that students of wealth receive after spending more time partying and fraternizing than studying. As far as I know, both Harvard and Yale allow students to graduate with C's. If they weren't to do that, most students wouldn't graduate because "C" is technically the average grade (so approx. 50% score below that). In graduate school a "C" is a pretty bad grade to get, but I don't think they kick you out if you maintain a C average. For a terminal degree like an MBA it doesn't really matter all that much. The grades probably matter when you apply to a job or a graduate program (although I ask myself how a student with an undergraduate "C" average managed to get into one of the most prestigious MBA programs).

But even top MBA programs have been known to take students with mediocre grades if they did something notable in their professional lives (explaining why so many students in MBA programs are older). But did GW Bush do anything notable post-Yale? I don't think so.

Basically, I believe he got into Yale and Harvard as a "legacy" and because his family is wealthy. It helps to have a dad who was in the CIA, too.

Bush has family history there. George Sr. graduated from Yale and was a very intellegent man. Perhaps he pulled some stings for his son.

Back in the day, all schools let you graduate with a C average.

Back in the day, women, non-white people, and poor people did not go to college, so there was not as much competition. That's how he got into graduate school.

i think that when your dad is the president and you're made of money, you can get a passing grade at a graduate school. they gave him a C because nobody would ever believe that he got a grade higher than that. i wonder if his thesis was on "nucular weapons"........
