Sooner or later life will end on earth.

Either an asteroid will kill us or a disease or when the sun expands it will burn us to a crisp. So....

If you think human life is important than space travel is a 10 (if 10 is the most important) If you don't care about life then its a 4.

I will always give it a 10 based on the technology developed alone. Space travel is about extreme efficiency in energy usage, extreme dependability under stress, and economical use of space and weight. If there is any areas of technology the world needs more than these I am not sure what they could be. The research into power usage alone is well worth the paltry sums that are spent on space travel research.

Always remember .. when it comes to the exploration of space it is never the destination that is of value .. it is what we learn in making the journey.

I think since the world has a bunch of problems and can't get is crap together space travel has gone down to like a 1. Until we are unified we cannot even begin serious space exploration becasue the resources involved would require global cooperation.

Eventually it will be a 10 cause of overpopulation, and pollution to this planet. If we don't find a way to travel into space in about 100 years, mankind may be doomed. Plus if we travel to space, all of our little problems in Earth will start to seem small - I actually think science could help solve our global problems, I can't understand why they cause so many problems.

1. I say this because we have no reason to be in space. Our home is earth, it is perfectly suited to sustain human life. Although I love sci-fi, prolonged space travel is impossible. Space is wickedly brutal, and can kill us in so many ways. It is poisonous, littered with debris and radioactivity that can puncture small holes through us and degrade us on a cellular level. And without gravity our muscles atrophy. Humans in space is like fish out of water.

I say it is a 8 because it waste a lot of money that we could be using on exploring the oceans on the united states i think it is really weird that we know more about space which is so far away from us then we know abput the oceans right beside us.

i was thinking of giving it a 10 but since i read the comments i give it a 9 BECAUSE of all the natural disasters that are happeneing , war, we'll be able to create space stations for our selfs to live in unlike a planet where its polluted all the time we can pollute in space since its so BIG. plus we have a more advantage since the green house gas is increasing the water level because glaciers melting new york, london and more citys will be under water and there will be no way to pump out the water because the water has to go somewhere and if we do pump out the water the water will drain another city and they pump water out and drain another city and so on... so i think its important to us to understand space travel since we're going to be living on Mars in a couple of 50 years.... so its very important for space travel.... but also everyone shouldnt be focusing on that we need people to focus on the natural disaster.... and one more thing if we create space stations we'll be able to live there and just think the way the sci-fi movies are made with humans living in space if it happens i would love to live there but i would have all the space stations near earth for our water supply and if we wanted to fight a war i would fight on a planet than on a space station BLOW a hole through the glass and your gonna be sucked into space and blown to pieces because of your molecules spliting so i would prefer to fight a war on a planet.. even with all the cost of money hey money grows on trees(not likely) but we cut em burn em and make paper and moneyyyyy! so tats wht the government here should do than all thsoe taxes
