space exploration is being slowed down, but not for reasons of the deficit. the amount that is spent per year as a percentage of the amount spent the previous year on space exploration has been less than 100% for over a decade.

the biggest amount of deficit spending is done on the military. hundreds of billions for the military compared to a few billion (if that) for space exploration -- and that includes ground based, satellite, probes and manned. if you want to turn off the deficit, you have to turn off the biggest leak. space exploration is not it.

There are many things that happen in this world that are out of our control. Things like military spending, government policy and space exploration. Unless you are very wealthy and important, this is something you can never make a difference on. Yes, we all want to see more justice and equality in the world, but it is just not going to happen. Unfortunately, our economy is driven by greed and corruption. It allows us to live our comfortable lives. What do you think they want in space anyway? Probably new elements to make better bombs with or some other immoral advantage.

No, you should slow down on illegal wars until you get the debt under control.

Then you should continue not engaging in illegal wars.

Space exploration causes tremendous spinoffs in technology and knowledge. Wars just kill people and make money for military contractors at the expense of taxpayers.

They once said that we should scrap the whole idea of going to the moon, that the program cost too much money, that hunger and poverty could be ended if the Apollo program was nixed. As you can see, the program no longer exists and hunger and poverty are still around.
