like someone said above, you can't compare these bands!! Sure same genre (ish) but its like comparing Jesus to a turkey sandwhich (exagerate a little) Both bands are on a completely different level. Green Day is simply great. They have come out with so much stuff and been around for years, proving that they are timeless. Yet Fall Out Boy, a pretty good band, has come out with some catchy songs, with good lyrics and melodies so on, we just don't know if they're a fad or here to stay. Both good bands though.

Green Day for sure. I like them both but Green Day has history of hit after hit, and Fall Out Boy has like one or two. Give Fall Out Boy another album or two, see if they're still around, and then ask this question again.

Fall Out Boy!! How can u even ask that question?Yes,Green Day's been around longer,but if ur talking about music NOW,Green Day gets worse and worse every day.Fall Out Boy is amazing and I am so in love with them it's not even funny.i have six posters of them in my room and one of Green Day because of their old stuff.Besides Patrick is the best singer on the face of the planet.Billie Joe sounds like a girl with strup throat.

Green Day. Sure they kind of suck now but their old stuff was great. Fall Out Boy doesn't have a history and most likely won't develop one remotely close to what Green Day has.

Green day!! Fall Out Boy even idolized Green Day before their fame and sucess. Green Day has been around for way longer and they have better music.

I think green day, they are passionate. They bring politics into their music. Fall out boy is just another good band that sings about love and stuff. This is my opinion anyway.

FOB is a OK band i mean I like them because their idols are Green Day. but there is no such thing as a fact on this question. either u like FOB or Green Day. there is no right answer but I think that GD is just more popular because they were the biggest band in the world 2 times!

Fall Out Boy..because they're way more talented, Patrick's voice is so much better than Billie's, their lyrics are much more meaningful and poetic than Green Day's, and because they're more emo than Green Day =]
..and politics or music history shouldn't matter. They've been just as amazing before they turned mainstream when they were undergound..actually better, and besides, I can't stand Billie's voice.

Are you serious ?? Greenday , they have been around a long time. If it wasn't for greenday bands like fall out boy wouldn't be main stream and those guys would still be working at a 7-11
