"Into the Thinking Kingdoms" by Alan Dean Foster.
Across the Lethal Nations
Etjole Ehomba has led his companions through jungle veldt, and desert. Now to reach the fabled port of Hamacassar, the simple herdsman must trek through deadly "civilized" lands where flowers wage war, dogs herd lightning, demons govern the darkness and Time itself can be held captive.
In this new world, the tribesman must rely upon his friends, wondrous weapons, and the magic of memories so potent they can raise the dead or bring the sea to dry land. But no matter where he goes, every seer and sage Ehomba meets offers the same prophecy: his quest will end in failure...and death.
This is the second book of a trilogy. Ehomba is on a mission to save the Visioness. It was put upon him by a dying man that had washed up on his tribes desert shores.
I enjoy all of Alan Dean Foster's books, I couldn't put the first one down and am almost finished with the second. I read anywhere from 3 to 5 books a week.
If you like Sci-Fi you should really check out Foster. His Pip and Flinx books are really good too.

Chocolat by Joanne Harris. The book was a disappointment. The movie starring Johnny depp and juliette binoche is much better. In the book the heroine sleeps with her friend's boyfriend.I didn't like that at all.But in the movie the plot is different.
At the beginning of Lent, an unwed mother opens a decadent chocolate shop in a tiny, religious French village that hasn't changed for a 100 years. Scorned as a Jezebel and a witch by some and revered for her confectionary healing by others, Vianne asks, "I sell dreams, small comforts, sweet harmless temptations to bring down a multitude of saints crash-crash-crashing among the hazels and nougatines...Is that so bad?"
Watch the movie. Both the links to the book and the movie are given below.

I'm in the middle of a reread of Diana Gabaldon's "A Breath of Snow and Ashes" right now.
I think it's a very good book, but it's sixth in a series. I know and love these characters so well by now that I think just watching them eat breakfast would make an entertaining book.

The last book I read was Eldest by Christopher Paolini, and if you are looking for adventure start with Eragon the first book, read Eldest, and soon to be a third. It is the greatest story I have ever read.

I read the Circle Opens book one: Street Magic by Tamora Pierce. It was really good. I want to read the rest of the series now. I talked one of my friends into reading it and she loved it. It is mostly a series for girls but some guys might like it too, especially if they like fantasy.

Re-read an 'oldie' : Nevil Shute's 'Trustee from the Tool Room'.
...Rather slow-paced by current standards, this novel outlines in lucid detail how a very ordinary person, whom you would never bother to notice even if you bumped into him, accomplishes an almost impossible feat - simply because he had the WILL to do it.
And when it is all over, he simply goes back to his old routine - without any inkling about his deeds' impact on others !

The Code of the Woosters by P.G.Wodehouse. Good book, although personally I think Wodehouse stretches his stories to breaking point....
