A Japanese steakhouse would be good. Ask her what SHE wants!

Congratulations to your daughter. I wish her all the best.

If you are in Long Beach, I love the Sky Room. It has the best view and if you time it right you could catch a spectacular sunset over the Queen Mary. The food is good but its the view you cannot beat.

The only fine dining Japanese place I can think of is Yamashiro in Los Angeles. The food is marginal but the view is spectacular.

My favorite place to celebrate big occasions is the Parkway Grill in Pasadena. The food and service is just solid and you cannot go wrong with it. Its a traditional place that is not Hollywood pretensious. I celebrate big birthdays there and my parent's anniversary.

Have a great time this Thursday.

I don't know of any specific places up that way, since I live in Nashville, but what I would recommend is to make the dining experience a memorable one. Perhaps, a restaurant along the beach somewhere around sunset. Hopefully, the weather will co-operate with you on that special day. Just a thought.

Congratulations on your daughters graduation. You must be so proud of her.

Best wishes.

Would you be willing to come to the OC? Matsu in Huntington Beach, Beach/Talbert is my personal favorite for Japanese.

I have never been there, but I see advertisements for Khoury's in Long Beach. I can not remember if the are in Shorline Village or Marina Pacifica. But they do have a buffet on the weekends with all you can eat lobster.
