So far in the Finals Johnson is out coaching Riley. Johnson has showed that he is capable of using his bench and making them versatile on defense and offense. Miami is a very talented team as well versatile but so far Riley hasn't really adjusted to Johnson's approach and lineups. Is it me or Riley seems stubborn in these Finals believing that Shaq and Wade can do it all themselves. In game 2 Riley commented that he wants to go deeper into his bench and it seemed he didn't even look down there at Derek or Shandon or even Kapono who is a good shooter as well Doleac. I think he's a stubborn old coach. What's your take on Riley?

You are mostly right, but i think there might be a little more to the story. Coach Riley realizes that the mavericks are a long, athletic team that also has a good perimeter game. This means that Riley can't afford to give his bench long minutes if they are not getting it done defensively. Riley knows that each offensive posession becomes more important and wants his highest Field goal percentage players to get the most touches. Those two Miami Heat players with the higher field goal percentage is Shaq and Wade. Shaq is being double teamed and forced to kick the ball out, this means the other players can't stand around when Shaq has the ball otherwise they won't get a good look once the kick-out comes. Johnson knows that he will make most of Miami's other players go to Shaq's left to receive the ball making for a more difficult jump shot for most players. Riley on the other hand needs more guys like Haslim and J.Williams to draw fouls so Shaq is not forced into an up and down game and has his legs for the 4th quarter. Because if its just Shaq going to the line, he will not shoot a high enough percentage of free throws to hold a lead. Miami has to make sure other guys stay aggressive so Dallas is forced to rotate to help out defensively making for easier scoring opportunities for Wade, and allowing for Shaq to have more one on one oppertunities. Dallas, on the otherhand just needs to keep everyone involved on offense like their doing, but make D.Wade work more to receive the ball, such as fight through screens, hand checks, put a body on him...whatever just make him work to get touches. Considering he has a bad leg, he will look for his teammates to carry more of the load, Dallas just needs to make sure that other Miami players don't step up and keep the easy baskets at a minimum. It should be an entertaining finals.

Riley is a legend in NBA coaching. Dirk has proven to be at the top of NBA players and the Heat supporting cast(the ones that played) could not keep up with the Mavs supporting cast. The first 2 games were in Dallas and that is a huge advantage. The Heat will come home and put up a good fight. Riley may be getting outcoached, but ultimately, the players have to put the ball in the basket.
