Squirrels, groundhogs, moles, bunnies, deer,.....
You can do a few things, although nothing works 100%, once they have found your tasty morsels it is hard to get them to leave.
Whorly-gigs, anything that will move helps alot, I have lots and lots of pin wheels in my garden.
Also anything with a loud odor...crushed mint (or mint tea bags) sprinkled around, moth balls. dryer sheets (not very attractive but really works) garlic or chive heads. etc.
Pepper spray-- water and red crushed pepper but I have not had good luck with it.
Decoy predators like owls and snakes ( you can get at any garden center)
God Luck and God Bless
Hope this is helpful.....Grandma

There can be a variety of culprits. If beetles or bugs are not present, probably snails or caterpillars.

But having holes on the leaves would mean only bugs that
may have attacked in the evening only because it's cooler
in the nightime.

Hope my answer helps you.
