You cannot take a hermet crab from the ocean and put it in a tank with that has freshwater in it, you will kill it.

Try buying a little tank specially for her hermet crab and putting salt water in it.

Land hermit crabs can only stay under water for a certain amount of time as adults. So If you put a land hermit crab into any full fish tank - it would drown eventually.

Now there are other types of salt warter crabs that can stay in salt water fish tanks...

You just need to know what kind of crab you have.

And the tank needs to be salt water.

But even if you had a salt water tank, you risk exposing your fish to disease.

No. Even if they survived the water change, the cichlids would kill them. They're are one of the most aggressive kind of tank fish you can have.

And on top of the answers you already got, it's likely illegal to remove native animals from the beach. Go put him back where he belongs.

umm.. It should'nt really be a problem.. expect i've never really had one underwater before.. they usually just stay on the beach and chill out.. go into the water every once inwhile, but still stay on the beach. So, i wouldn't suggest just dropping them in there.

Absolutely not. Anything from salt water, needs salt water; anything from fresh water from fresh water. Besides the fact that fresh water will eventually erode the calcium in the shell; not having the salinity in the water will kill them.

The hermit crabs you buy at the shore ( the ones they sell in the cages) dont go in water. You will drown them since they are land hermit crabs.
